How long will shoulder pain last?

The duration of shoulder pain depends on the severity of the injury. For minor injuries such as sprains and bruises, the pain takes about a week to heal. Some shoulder pain problems can be treated with simple home remedies and rest. Or switch to surgical treatment. Shoulder pain caused by severe problems such as fractures, rotator cuff tears, and dislocations may require surgical treatment and can last for months. If pain persists or worsens after treatment, it is essential to see a doctor.

Cure Stiff Shoulders

After determining the cause of shoulder pain through various clinical diagnoses, treatment of this condition is initiated under the guidance of an experienced physician. Treatment for shoulder pain includes various pain relievers and physiotherapy. Your doctor may recommend resting and avoiding strenuous physical activity that involves shoulder movement to prevent further injury.

Injecting cortisone into the affected area can help reduce inflammation. Applying heat or cold packs to the affected area temporarily relieves the pain. In addition, some exercises can help patients by improving shoulder flexibility and mobility. In some cases, doctors may recommend surgical treatment if treatment for this condition proves unsuccessful.

It should be noted that shoulder pain relief varies from person to person, depending on the severity of the injury and its cause. Surgical treatment of this condition is not the first option, so this treatment is used only when all other medical treatments have failed.

Treatment for patients with shoulder pain due to arthritis or osteoarthritis is slightly different. In such patients, injury to the shoulder joint causes shoulder pain. Surgical treatments such as bone correction surgery and joint replacement surgery are the two best methods that have proven beneficial in treating such patients. After surgery, it is recommended that you rest until your condition heals.

At-Home Exercises To Relieve your Shoulder Pain

If you have shoulder pain, try these exercises to relieve pain. See an orthopedic surgeon if shoulder pain persists after several days of rest, icing, massaging, and lifting.

1. Chest Arm Stretch

Place your right hand in front of your body, near your waist. Reach behind your elbow with your left hand and pull your right arm to the left in front of your chest. The goal is to be able to draw your right arm along your chest without pain. If you feel pain in your shoulder, lower your arm until the pain subsides. Hold for 30-60 seconds, then relax and repeat with your left arm. Repeat 3-5 times.

2. Neck Release

Sit upright and slowly bring your chin closer to your chest until you feel a stretch in your neck. Raise your arms across your chest to shoulder height to advance the stretch. Try tilting your head to the left to straighten your right shoulder or tilt your head to the right to straighten your left shoulder. Hold the stretch in each direction for up to 1 minute and breathe deeply as you focus on relaxation. Repeat 3-5 times.

3. Chest Strengthening

Place an exercise band, rope, strap or tie behind your back and hold it with both hands. While holding the straps, draw your shoulder blades together and gently lift your chin toward the ceiling. To advance the stretch, bring your hands closer together on the straps. Breathe in and out deeply for 10-15 seconds. Repeat 3-5 times.

4. Seated Twist

Sit upright in a chair with your knees together. Twist your torso to the right and place your left hand outside your right thigh. Look to your right, relax your shoulders, and gently press your right thigh. Breathe in and out deeply for 10-15 seconds. Repeat on the left side. Repeat 3-5 times on each side.

5. 90, 90 Shoulder Stretch

Standing in a doorway, raise your arm so that your elbow is at a 90-degree angle to him and your arm is at a 90-degree angle to your body at your shoulder. Place your hands on either side of the door jamb, step one foot forward, and stand upright with your neck in line with your spine. Bend forward while supporting yourself on the door frame. Hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds. Repeat 2-3 times.
