Greatest musician of all time – If we think of what does it mean to exist in the modern world, even in philosophical references we’ll find ourselves surrounded by computers. Technology has become such an integral part of our lives that it is influencing everything that we do. Right from making bookings to purchasing things and even learning, it’s hard to imagine anything without technology algorithm.
Gone are the days when writing meant picking up a pen and paper and sitting alone away from the distraction of the world, in search of the right thoughts? Today, most writers sit down with their laptops and tablets, looking for words in the technologically advanced world.
A similar thing applies to education and learning. Instead of all these big books, today we have e-readers where you can store thousands of books at free of cost and read as much as you want without having to carry the heavy pile of a burden on your shoulders.
These are only a handful of examples in the way technology is swiftly making changes to our ordinary lives, without even making us realize these changes. And as humans, we can’t imagine our lives without our smartphones, laptops, and other gadgets. Similarly, the state of art for different industries and niches has been completely transformed, now that there is a lot more than people can do with technology.
Way of Digitization
Be it the way organizations and enterprises do business or their internal value system, the wave of digitization swept everything that we know today, turning into a platform for emerging technologies to act. Thus, the very core of businesses has shifted to being driven by technology rather than intuition.
Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, cloud, machine learning among others are the prime drivers of transformations across the world. These are not just useful for bringing innovations on the table, but also solving the existing challenges persistent in these industries.
On one hand, companies get to see the future in the market with these software development technologies in India; while on the other hand, they get to dig down into the past to realize what worked and what didn’t.
In fact, in many instances, this advanced technology has managed to surpass the level of human intelligence and yield better results when it comes to a certain task. The most evident of this realization is seen in the healthcare sector.
In the healthcare industry, where the accurate and preventive diagnosis is still a huge concern, a machine learning algorithm is learning from the limited given data and outperforming medical experts who make decisions in the light of far more knowledge than computers.
This is a breakthrough in the world. It’s a peek into the things that a machine can do. And, that too at a pace which no human effort can achieve. After all, if you let no matter how many humans go through the abundant data that is present in the world today, they would take ages to come up with a minute insight that a machine can discover within hours.
The Musical Experience
Even the industry of music has been perturbed by the influence of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning. To everyone’s surprise AI algorithms are being used to produce music that is scientifically backed to help increase productivity and reduce stress. And then some predictions algorithms will tell how many sales will your upcoming music album make.

While these are some of the new things that artificial intelligence is bringing to the music industry. It is also shaping music industry in several other ways. To begin with, it is diving into the past to discover what made great musicians so great. Also, discovers why one had a big name than the others.
According to recent research conducted by Juyong Park, a theoretical physicist at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. It was discovered that the giant of classical music, Ludwig Van Beethoven was the most influential artist of all time. Especially for concerning his piano compositions.
Breaking compositions into smaller pieces
Algorithmic Music Composition – It is as amazing as surprising it is to understand how the analysis of historic data helped in deriving this intangible cultural influence. The basis of the research lies in understanding that music is the most mathematical of all forms of art. It is symbolic and temporal, the representations of which are spread over time, connected through its small pieces.
The research was preceded with collecting more than 900 samples. These Samples of 19 composers spanning through different periods from 1700 to 1910s. These included the Baroque, classical and romantic periods respectively. All the collected data was then broken down into small pieces known as code words. In terms of music, these would be nothing else but chords.
Once the chords were determined, they were compared adjacent to each other. This was done to determine how original the composition was. And, how creative the composers were at coming up with novel transitions from one chord to the other.
Upon the results of research, it was found out that all 19 composers heavily borrowed from piano compositions of Beethoven. Thus, it is being influenced. And when it came to novelty, the composer Rachmaninoff was considered the one with most novel compositions from the list.
Conclusion
The research demonstrates a great potential on the way algorithms used to extract evidence on data from the past. Even though the amount of data used was limited to piano compositions, there could have been more to this research if Beethoven’s orchestral compositions would have been taken into consideration. The possibilities are endless in the future.
