Men’s Fashion Trends For Summer 2022

This year’s summer trends are like no other before it, with the likes of bold cutouts, boxy silhouettes and relaxed fits are all in which is a nice change from the tracksuits we’ve been wearing at home working. It is no secret that the 90s are back with a bang with relaxed-fit jeans taking over skinny, cutouts over moderate and much more interesting returns from the past. In this article, we will go through some of the biggest trends to be considered this summer in 2022.

Fashion Trends For Summer 2022

Dust coats

Coats in summer? Yup, not the warm coats that you think, but a dust coat. These coats are oversized, light and casual making them perfect for the cooler evenings. They are essential for wardrobes as well as your travel bag. They are clearly inspired by the trench coat and parka as it is literally designed for all types of weather. There are so many options out there with the likes of Hermès and Fendi both launching this season. There are of course less expensive options out there, just go with something that suits your style and you’ll have it for the rest of your life.

Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits are well associated with workwear and are often also associated with winter if you are wearing them casually. They have been in and out of trend for a while, and this season they are back with a difference. Jumpsuits in summer 2022 have cropped legs meaning it is a short jumpsuit which will be great for many different casual occasions including festivals and BBQs. They are also coming oversized to give a more airy feel to them on the warmer days. Many top designers such as Prada and Brioni.

Unstructured Suits

A formal suit will never be out of fashion, but this summer it is taking a turn for a more informal approach. Unstructured suits are a great option for those dressier parties without being too formal. The fit itself is loose fitting and baggy does not hug your waste and has little to no padding. This makes for a comfier and relaxed feel perfect for the summer. The great thing about unstructured suits is they come in an abundance of colours and since they are not for formal use, you can go as adventurous as you want with the design and colour.

Vivid Colour

Out of the dark of working from home in recent years, designers thought we could do with some colour to brighten up our day. For this reason, vivid colours are a huge trend this summer. Colour has been on the rise for a couple of years, but this summer it is prominent and you won’t be able to miss it, especially if someone is walking down the high street in a bright blue outfit. If you are not one for bold colours, opt for adding a pop of colour with an accessory to match the trend. Many designers this year have created their style of vivid colours such as Saint Lauren, Dior and Louis Vuitton.

Cut-Outs

I told you the 90s were back. Those who want to go all out with the style need to have some cut-out clothing to add to the effect. Indentations, scissor cuts and holes are all in at the moment which I suppose is a good thing considering the weather is getting warmer. This is a completely new concept for men and aims to deconstruct the masculine appearance as we see to this day to start reconstructing male stereotypes.

Shorts In All Shapes And Sizes

Legs for days some may say. It’s not surprising that shorts are on this list, but this year they can be any shape and size. With designers having a range of different fits this year, it is up to you to decide what shorts are best for you. From Bermuda shorts to micro-shorts, you will find a pair that suits you. If you are struggling with the material, opt for a chino style material as these can be made into casual and smart-casual looks.

Black And White

Black and white are just two colours that contrast beautifully, and it seems to be coming back into style maximising an elegant aesthetic. Although this is a classic style, it can be made simple and still have the effect you are after. For the more adventurous fashion-focused gentlemen, you can play around with ideas and be as creative as you want due to black and white going with any colour.

Athleisure

Sportswear is a huge trend this summer. In recent years, sportswear has become increasingly popular. Whether this is from the work-from-home culture or just simply that it is a cool look to have under your belt. There are so many options out there, the full tracksuit, hooded sweatshirts and sports jackets are all in this summer. One of the most popular items on this list is the famous varsity jacket, often represented by a colour and an American university football team.

Show Some Skin

This year’s fashion is about playing with the line between masculinity and femininity with a bold design that is not for the faint of heart. The new trends that are breaking barriers have one thing in common, they want to show your figure and shape. This is done by using a range of materials such as lace detailing, sheer fabrics and large cutouts.

Bold Prints

Art has always played an integral role in fashion and this year, designers are bringing this trend to life in new ways. Tie dye, floral, sketches and all types of techniques are being used to create bold designs for the more adventurous person. This is becoming increasingly popular due to a more maximalist approach to fashion, rather than a more conservative and timeless look.

Summer 2022 is going to be a colourful one for sure, with designers bringing back some old classics with new and modern techniques is an exciting time for fashion. With new sustainable materials being discovered, it is no doubt that more businesses will start following lead designers in their efforts.
