Lake District attractions – The Lake District has long been a favourite destination for domestic holidaymakers for decades – it’s a truly unique place that has a feel like no other, making it a fantastic way to escape throughout the year, especially if you’re looking for something that isn’t too far afield. With the Lakes, you can get away to the country and soak up the best that nature has to offer to you without having to spend too long travelling – this makes it an ideal trip if you’re taking young children.

Keswick
First up is one of the most popular locations in the lakes: Keswick. This quaint market town has become somewhat of a hub in the district, offering travellers everything they could need for the duration of their stay; there are shops, restaurants, bars, activities, and of course, a lake right on your doorstep. With all these amenities right in front of you, you’re sure to be able to have a great trip to the lake district. During the day you’ll be able to take a refreshing walk around the water and up to some of the local peaks, whilst your nights will be filled with fine dining at restaurants such as the Brossen Steakhouse! Once you’re finished with your day, head back to your comfortable hotel room, such as the ones on offer at all seven of Lake District Hotels – they’ve got hotels ranging from quirky boutique hotels to lavish spa retreats with an outdoor pool, so there’s something to tailor to every traveller.
Bowness-on-Windermere
This is one of the biggest tourist towns in the Lake District and one of the busiest towns too, which makes this an ideal location if you’re looking to keep busy and stay in the thick of all the action. With so much to do, you’ll probably find yourself longing for more time in Bowness; that’s the perfect reason to make a return trip in the following months! Whilst in the town, you’ll have the ideal opportunity to explore the largest body of water in the region: Windermere. Windermere is a huge spot for watersports too, so if you time your trip right you may even be able to watch some exhilarating events and maybe even try your hand at some too!
Ullswater
Our last highlighted destination is Ullswater, which is the 2nd largest lake in the UK – sitting in an idyllic setting amongst the mountains to the south and soft rolling hills to the north, it’s one of the most picturesque places in the country. Inn On The Lake in Glenridding sits right on the shore of the lake is an incredible 15-acre grounds that features gorgeous gardens and 48 en-suite rooms that feature views of the shimmering waters or breath-taking mountain ranges – wherever you’re situated, you’ll have a great view! The Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful places – it feels like it’s from a completely different world to that of the big cities of London, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Liverpool where it’s all hustle, bustle, and work.
