In recent years, interior fashion has tried to develop under the influence of two main factors. Firstly, in connection with quarantine, people began to spend more time at home, so more attention has been paid to the comfort and aesthetic appeal of housing. Secondly, the ideas of eco-design and economical consumption of resources are becoming more and more relevant.
1. Work area decor
Particular attention is paid to the working area, as it is here that most of the time is spent in quarantine. It should be maximally equipped for office tasks and at the same time cozy at home. Designers suggest using organic furniture and properly organizing the space so that it does not look cluttered.
2. Cabinet on the balcony: how to organize the space
In the conditions of video calls and video conferences, the background of the working area has also become of great importance. Everything that is done behind your back is visible to colleagues and business partners. To give the background respectability, designers advise using spectacular decor. It can be voluminous tapestries, macmacramé, or panels. Paintings and photo prints in the style of abstractionism or expressionism are especially popular.
3. Indoor flowers everywhere
Indoor plants began to serve not just as decoration of the interior but became necessary for improving mental health and providing oxygen to closed spaces. The habitat of flowers has expanded far beyond the window sill. Flowers can be hung in a flowerpot above the walls or windows, under the ceiling, and installed on hanging racks that serve as partitions in the apartment. Increasingly, whole green walls with living vegetation are also integrated into the design.
4. Vintage things
With the development of new technologies, it would seem that there is no need for many old things that everyone tried to get rid of. However, empty minimalistic spaces are pretty boring. Vintage things began to return to the interior of the house, which can give zest and individuality. This applies to both antique furniture and accessories and decor items. “Stylish wear” goes beyond traditional Provence or country, and retro things fit into any modern style. Increasingly, they are also trying to give a second life to obsolete objects by inventing a new purpose for them.
5. Shape play
Quality and functionality will remain the main principle in choosing furniture. Within these principles, designers are left with room for imagination and the ability to play with interesting shapes.
6. Natural materials and rough texture
The trend will be things made from natural materials with a tangible texture: a rough stone slab, wooden furniture with an untreated surface, coarse linen, and woolen fabrics in textiles.
Trendy colors in 2022-2023
As for the color forecasts of designers, they are quite different. The highest popularity is predicted by combinations of natural neutral shades. First of all – brown and beige, create a feeling of calm and confidence. Shades of ocher and soft yellow will be in harmony with natural materials and handicrafts.
The colors of the sea and the earth, soft blue, greenish, and blue-green in combination with brown, sandy, and gray shades will coexist perfectly with retro things, aged furniture, and plants in ceramic pots.
Bright colors of the same color will be friends with neutral light shades. For example, red or pink with beige. However, the American Pantone Color Institute sees the 2022-2023 color palette differently, calling ultramarine green, mint green, navy, and cobalt blue, sky, amber, warm golden orange, sunny yellow, earthy brown, coral, crimson, purple. Also, according to many leading designers, gray will not cease to be popular as a base color.
