How It Started
In the summer of 2016, both of them started working together on their new venture. Koduri handled the marketing while Raju worked on the coding aspect of the business. They noticed midway that the process of editing a video was cumbersome as they had to download and upload a video and also spend hours in complicated software to get results. This intimidated a lot of beginners and people who weren’t tech-savvy. They had the idea that if their product could somehow save the user this trouble and edit the video while still being in the browser, then they would have a winner. Thus Hashcut was born.
They had ties to all major sports league and many film studios too. They took advantage of the AI present and made it to cut to highlights. This proved to be tricky as the rights in sports are strict, and such a thing could lead to legal action. They switched paths and aimed the gaming industry and pop culture after that. This has worked out in their favor, and now Hashcut is one of the most popular video editing chrome extension.
In India, they paired up with SNG Comedy in Mumbai and ran a contest in which people could submit their own mashup from their favorite comedy clips. The best video would win tickets to the Youtube Fanfest. The competition got over 900 entries and people really liked the intuitiveness of the extension.
