As per a published research paper, 9 of the top 12 countries that face electrical outages are Sub-Saharan African Countries. In an article from the World Bank, it is estimated that these Sub Saharan African countries face up to 50 hours to 4600 hours of annual power outages. These numbers are quite disturbing as countries in this region live without electricity for more than half a year.
Electricity is a major requirement for the domestic as well as the commercial and manufacturing sector. 6 of the top 10 countries for the fastest growing economy are from Africa. Due to this rapid growth in business and trade, there is a window for power generator companies to invest and extend their business in Africa.
Opportunity for Generator Companies
There has been substantial competition between suppliers for importing generators into Africa. Many companies from neighbouring subcontinents like the Middle East and India export generators to African countries. The Middle Eastern countries play a significant role in supplying as they have a high amount of capital. The Perkins generator supplier in the UAE has been an important supplier in recent years in Africa and is gaining popularity.
Varied Options in Generators
Generators are majorly divided based upon their energy source. It could be fossil fuel-powered or solar energy or even wind energy powered generators. The solar and wind-powered variants are used in regions where the diesel prices are high or if there is low availability. The type of fuel source impacts the amount of output generated. The most famous are the Diesel Generators having a range of 10 kVA to 3000 kVA.
Diesel Generator Variants
Though the ranges are wide, the diesel generators too, have a difference in their functioning. For example, the Sterling generators have 2 famous series, the SGM and the SGV. The smaller output SGV 650 PR has a rating of 650 units and a radiator cooling system. Whereas the SGM 3100 PH-E has a rating of 3100 and a heat exchanger cooling system.
Solar Powered Generators
These solar-powered generators are a new set of innovation. They were designed for the regions where there is ample amount of sunlight and there are less maintenance and significant savings in these generators.
The available ratings in these generators are 1.26MW, 1.75MW, and 2.0 MW. Another advantage is that these are mobile and hence can be transported from one site to another depending on their needs. The solar generators are not only compact but also easy to maintain. They have thermally insulated high strength enclosure to withstand difficult conditions.
Generators for Data Centers
Data centres play an important role in offices and companies where databases need to be online and ready to be accessed all the time. These data centres cannot afford to have a break in power supply as it can affect their businesses.
Hence a smarter way of backup power is tailored made generators which serve specific needs of a data centre. These tailored made generators come at a range of 1010 KVA to 2250 KVA and have alternators with RTDs, BDT’s and space heaters as standard scope. Another notable feature is that there is no average load factor limitation.
Maintenance Support and Assistance
Though modern-day generators are made to withstand tough load and conditions, there are cases sometimes when there are issues with the generators. Hence, the companies also give utmost priority to generator maintenance service provider schemes.
At the end of the day, customer satisfaction is an utmost priority for any service provider. There are multiple ways to contact for any kind of support or assistance required relating to generators.
