1. Volunteering:

The best way to help ourselves is by helping others. It helps us to feel good about ourselves and also gives us a sense of satisfaction. And at the same time, it also serves a bigger purpose by serving the whole community.

Studies show that volunteering reduces depression and help us have a longer and happier life by benefiting our mental health. Apart from health benefits, it also helps us inculcates values and teaches us many skills. And most importantly, you meet new people and develop new relationships strengthened by shared activities.

It can even help you advance your career. While a volunteering activity looks good in any resume, you can even pick this as your career. They are many big and small NGOs working for helping others. You can join these or start your own NGOs. There are bigger organizations like WHO, UNESCO, etc. also available which you can join.

2. Playing games:

Another fun activity that you can do alone or with other people, sitting in your home or outdoors, on your computers and phones or in the physical world. There are a variety of games available including board games, outdoor games, video games, etc.

One example I would like to suggest is the rummy circle, a fun multiplayer card game. It enhances your strategy making skills and also help you connect with new people and make new friends. The 13 cards rummy is the most famous at present. You can play rummy online for real money and get layered benefits while keeping yourself engaged in something productive.

Listening to music both have a very positive effect on your mind. They are great mood-elevating activities. There are thousands of varieties of music available in today’s world. Soothing music relaxes your mind and makes you stress-free. Or, you could even like listening to pop, EDM, etc. While listening to music drink arabica coffee. 4. Playing with a pet:

This is one of my personal favorite things to do when I am not feeling good. Spending time with a pet has several benefits including stress reduction, lower blood pressure, and serotonin, the hormone responsible for feelings of well-being and happiness, release. Not only are they fun to play with, but they also give you unconditional love.

Even if you don’t own a pet or can’t have one, you can always visit an animal shelter and spend time with them. If you choose to get a pet, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind while getting one like which animal do you want, what breed do you want, do you really have time for it, what type of environment it needs, etc.

5. Making art:

Art can be present in different forms from drawing and sculpture to music and dance. With time, new forms of art are coming into emergence like modern art, etc. When we do art, we create something and this gives us a sense of accomplishment and lifts our mood. It enhances our creative thinking, shifts our focus from the stress in our lives to creating something beautiful and boosts our self – esteem. It also helps us to share our thoughts in our minds with the world, be it in the form of drawings, songs, movies or dance, etc.

But, many of us think that we do not have these skills. Then let me remind you that we are not born with these skills, we cultivate and enhance them with time. Choose what interests you and keep practicing, you will get better with time.

Here, I listed a few activities that you can easily do to lift your moods. Of course, the list doesn’t end here.
