8 Ways to Make Your Feet Look Better

Make Your Feet Look Better

We take care of ourselves in a variety of ways, but we frequently overlook our feet, which are the foundation of the body and allow us to do amazing things like walk, run, jump, dance, exercise, and more. Having healthy feet is important for our overall health, and damaging our feet by wearing the wrong shoes or failing to care for our nails not only increases the risk of health issues such as poor circulation, arthritis, and other issues, but also makes our feet less attractive. Here are some tips for caring for and beautifying your feet.

1. Get rid of skin and nail fungus

Fungal nails thicken, turn yellow-brown, and harbor debris. If you ignore a fungal nail infection for too long, your nails will become thick and irregularly shaped, making it impossible to conceal them with nail polish. A fungal infection of the skin, also known as athlete’s foot, causes skin peeling and flaking. Clearing this infection will not only make you feel better, but it will also make your skin look healthier.

2. Exfoliate your heels

Heels are usually the first parts of the feet to dry out. They become hardened and even cracked open, appearing white, gray, or scaly. The heels will look fresh and young again after exfoliating the dead outer layers of skin. You can exfoliate your heels with an over-the-counter peel or soak them and use a pumice stone. If at-home products aren’t enough, your podiatrist can go above and beyond with office procedures and medicated creams or lotions.

3. Remove your calluses

Calluses are small lumps and bumps that form on the sides of your big toes and the tops of your little toes. Removing these visually reshapes your foot’s outline and exposes the healthy skin beneath. Smaller calluses can be removed with a foot file, but larger or tender calluses should be shaved by your podiatrist with the proper tools.

Trim your corns and calluses properly. Diabetics should never trim their own calluses and corns. When used properly, pumice stones can help keep these lesions at bay.

4. Moisturise your feet every night

Moisturizing the feet keeps the skin supple and prevents dry skin from looking dull. Keeping the skin on our feet hydrated is just as important (if not more so) than keeping the skin on our faces hydrated because it prevents cracking and subsequent pain and infection.

Use a moisturizer on a daily basis to keep your skin hydrated. Dry skin is unsightly and can lead to cellulitis, a bacterial skin infection.

5. Treat swelling of the feet and ankles

6. Keep your toenails properly trimmed and shaped

Your toes will not only look and feel healthy if you maintain your nails properly, which includes removing the dead hardened skin that can tend to build up on the nail folds, but they will also be less likely to develop ingrown or toe infections. A medical pedicure is one way to accomplish this while also pampering your entire foot.

Clip your toes neatly. Toenails that are thick and elongated are unsightly and can harbor bacteria and fungus, leading to skin infections and athlete’s foot.

7. Have your spider veins treated

Spider veins are the red or hyperpigmented lines that appear in a roughly star-shaped pattern on the side or middle of the foot. Spider veins can be caused by aging, and they can be removed by laser or injection. Visit a vein center to get rid of spider veins for good.

8. Check your feet often for skin cancer

Allow a podiatrist to examine any skin irregularities. Skin cancer is common on the feet. Any unusual growth should be investigated.
